Current Ethelo Business Model

We provide a full-service, integrated "eDemocracy" solution that combines project-based or annual licenses to the technology with a suite of professional services including custom technology configuration, content development, moderation, data analysis and validation and custom reporting. On occasion we also convene live, zoom-based deliberation processes accompanying our digital engagement processes.

Recognizing a market need, in 2019 we began providing “Outreach Services” to recruit large (1000+) diverse samples of participants for public processes. We utilize both offline and online targeted advertising to ensure demographically representative participation and have continuously optimized the platform to optimize completion rates.

We charge $5k to $20k per decision process (average $10k), or $10k - $40k per annual license, with professional services billed hourly.

In addition to earned revenue, we also receive, through our partner eDemocracy Research Foundation, funding from other foundations such as McConnell Foundation or Trottier Foundation for projects qualifying for charitable funding such as our climate work or work with indigenous communities.

A weaknesses of our current business model is that our services-oriented business model has not allowed us to take advantage of the scalability of the underlying technology. This plan lays out the path to the release of our API and turn-key SaaS platform. It also builds on our knowledge of the Panel market and the opportunity to scale service delivery. Importantly, we have incorporated key developments from web3 technology, including a gamified compensation system to reward good participation in group decision processes.

This business model can be described in several ways;

Our strategy for implementing this business model is spread over several years. It begins with implementing bespoke implementations of Ethelo for Web3 organizations, and releasing the API to our technology stack. The development of the DAO community of participants is an important corollary objective.
